Senior Project Manager for Project Controls and Scheduling, AREVA NP, Engineering and Projects Division.  Responsible for development, maintenance and integration of schedules for process engineering, equipment procurement, and vendor-assisted commissioning for new process facility.  Engineering effort in excess of 1 million design and procurement hours in US and Europe; equipment procurement approximately $600 million.  Integrated design, procurement, and commissioning schedule rolls into owner’s integrated project schedule that includes building design, construction, and owner’s commissioning program.  Supervising international team of schedulers (peaked at 5, down to 2).  Also responsible for earned value management system and key performance indicator (KPI) reporting.  Eagle Rock Enrichment Facility; to be built in Idaho; engineering managed from Charlotte, NC.  Project slowed during economic slow-down.

 

Project Controls Manager, AREVA-Newport News, LLC, June 2009 to June 2011.  Owner’s scheduling and cost manager for joint venture between Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding and AREVA, to erect and start a manufacturing facility for heavy components for commercial nuclear power plants.  Responsible for development and management of project controls program, including cost control processes, earned value management program, and total program schedule development using Primavera Project Planner version 6.2.  Project suspended due to market conditions; transferred to project above.

 

Independent Consultant, 2009-2012

 

Scheduling Consultant in post-project dispute and settlement negotiation.  Performed delay analysis, presented contractor’s side in request for equitable adjustment (REA) presented to the US Army Corps of Engineers.  Settlement achieved; entire 211-day delay accepted by Corps.

Operations Manager, Internal Consultant: Responsible for coordinating efforts of team of schedulers providing project scheduling services to projects throughout the United States for major commercial and industrial general contractor.  Also provided senior claims consulting services.  Responsible for development and maintenance of schedules for a variety of projects of all sizes, and for providing trouble-shooting assistance, delay analyses, and claims services on an as-needed basis.   Projects to date have covered wide range, including pharmaceutical plants, hospitals, schools, and high-rise luxury condominiums. Project Controls Manager: Responsible for development and maintenance of schedule and cost systems to be used on construction portion of $700+ million insulin production and packaging facility for Eli Lilly and Company in Prince William County, Virginia.  Supervised staff that created construction piece of total Primavera schedule; coordinated integration of total project schedule, adding engineering, procurement and commissioning.  Participated in selection and implementation of Prolog as site cost system.  Developed a database for conversion of multi-source project estimate into searchable and transportable database.  Prepared total staff of 9 for significant construction project that was ultimately cancelled. April 2003 to September 2004. 

 

J.A. Jones Construction (and subsidiaries) 1999-2003

 

Project Scheduling Manager, J.A. Jones Engineering and Construction/Lockwood Greene Engineering.  Responsible for all schedule development and forecasting associated with $180 million pharmaceutical project for Bristol Myers Squibb in New Brunswick, New Jersey.  August 2001 to March 2003. 

 

Project Controls Manager, J. A. Jones Construction/Lockwood Greene Engineering, Responsible for all cost and schedule forecasting and other project controls functions associated with the construction of a new North American Stability Laboratory and a major plant expansion for Merck Pharmaceuticals at their Wilson NC site; combined construction budgets totaling $80 million. Supervised staff of 2 schedulers, 2 cost engineers. Prepared monthly reports; presented cost and schedule information to client's senior management.  Developed network-based custom database application for creating and processing subcontract change orders through an intricate approval process, providing real-time data for project cost reports; continuously in use since February 2000. September 1999 to July 2001. 

 

Scheduling Manager, J.A. Jones Technologies Group,.  Responsible for engineering, procurement, construction, and validation schedules for new process MK-826 at the Merck Chemicals Cherokee Facility in Danville, Pennsylvania.  Work included converting conceptual schedules to detailed construction schedules, and issuing weekly schedule updates.  Supervised one scheduler and three quantity-tracking engineers, and coordinated information flow from process engineering, design engineering, superintendents, procurement personnel, and contractors. January-August, 1999

 

Anheuser Busch Corporate Engineering, 1989-1999

 

Construction Engineer, Jacksonville, Florida, Williamsburg, Virginia, and Baldwinsville, New York.  Owner’s representative overseeing a variety of construction projects, including packaging line modifications, warehouse additions and modifications, and brewing process piping changes.  Additional responsibilities included third-party pre-legal analysis of contractor claims.  In addition, wrote Standard Operating Procedures for new bottle line installed in the Jacksonville, Florida brewery.  Mid-1997 - December 1998

 

Regional Manager / Project Manager for industrial general contractor on Anheuser-Busch Projects, HS Construction, St. Louis, Missouri.   Responsible for all work performed in local area (Williamsburg, Va.) by out-of-state contractor during two-year performance period.  Work was performed by union labor in a multi-prime environment, requiring extensive coordination and cooperation with owner’s representatives, other contractors, and labor; work performed in accordance with Anheuser-Busch safety, environmental, and security standards.  Responsibilities and accomplishments included:

 

·         Managing construction of four major building projects, two packaging modifications, and a series of miscellaneous architectural/civil/structural projects.

·         Administration of 9 prime contracts and over 30 subcontracts over two-year period. 

·         Development of procedures and systems for document and change control to match Owner’s and home office’s administrative systems; assembly, installation, and maintenance of computer network for this purpose.

·         Supervision of staff including 3 project managers, 6 superintendents. 1995-1997

 

Project Controls Engineer for Anheuser-Busch Corporate Engineering, Williamsburg Brewery, Williamsburg, Virginia, under contract through Energy Services Group, Williamsburg, Virginia.   Local brewery expansions and work at remote sites including 4 other breweries, a can plant, a bakery, and a snack foods plant.  Wrote scopes of work for and administered contracts for major capital projects spread over five year period at the Williamsburg brewery.  Position grew to include administrative consulting at other Anheuser-Busch sites, including user documentation and claims investigations and defense preparation.
